Last week saw Dave present a video webinar ‘Forensic Examination of Vehicle Component Failures’ to The Association for Road Risk Management. Some of the quote from those who watched this were: “Brilliant presentation and the subject matter expert is fantastic.” “Great presentation. Really insightful and I think our whole team would benefit from seeing it.”…
I recently provided lectures for experienced Metropolitan Police Collision Investigators attending this course run by Chris Dunn of AiTS. I taught modules on Materials theory, Metals failures, Vehicle light bulbs, Speedometers & other vehicle instruments. This training will assist them when investigating fatal and serious injury accidents, and it will help them determine when additional…
The Bill proposed by Maria Eagle MP as an Early Day Motion (see previous News item) failed to gain Government support and was lost on 1st December 2017. It is sad in that old tyres will still be permitted on PSVs (i.e. buses and coaches), as they will on HGVs, and so further lives are…

This motion has been brought by Maria…
The National Crime Agency (NCA) recently accredited David as an Expert for a further period. He has provided expert advice to them on various occasions in recent years.
Also in June 2017 David attended the 2 day Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators conference at Hinckley. A useful time to network and discuss accidents. The conference was organised into various subject types: Autonomous Vehicles, Cyclist/Pedestrian Safety, Data Capture (inc. CCTV), as well as more commonly discussed areas of investigation.
In June 2017 David attended the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators’ Crash Day at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. Numerous staged crashes were organised with speeds of between 5mph and 93mph! Most vehicles were cars but some tests involved a lorry and one a moped. It’s obviously very useful to have damage produced at known speeds and…
In March 2017 BBC Radio 4’s ‘File on 4’ transmitted a programme ‘Rogue Hauliers’ in which David was interviewed regarding his involvement in the investigation of the Grittenham Haulage ‘Bath Tipper Lorry’ accident . The heavily laden lorry was unable to stop as it travelled down a steep hill in Bath and four people ,…
In February 2017 David was interviewed at length by a TV production company in connection with his examination of the Mercedes in which Diana, Princess of Wales died in Paris in 1997. He had carried out the examination as part of Lord Steven’s ‘Operation Paget’ enquiry and had produced a 282 page report. It is…
