I recently present a 2-day training course – the third I have presented for these forces.
The course covered both theoretical and practical aspects of failures or damage to wheels & tyres (1st day), metals & metallic failures, light bulbs, and the reliability of instrument cluster readings (2nd day). Ironically ,I presented the course only a mile from where I investigated the cause of the Ufton Nervet Rail Crash in 2004 (where I was able to determine that the driver of the car had stopped deliberately on the level crossing) and I was able to use aspects from my investigation to reinforce some matters I was teaching.
It is pleasing to heard from their supervisor that there has been an improvement in statements after only 2 weeks.
I aim to deliver similar training to other police forces in the next year or so, with the possibility of tailoring training to other organisations needs.
